Something special is happening deep in the heart of Ouro Oyaro, Kendu Bay. A dream that once lived quietly in the mind of Frederick Munga has now taken shape as Oyaro Sports Academy and the way it’s coming to life is nothing short of inspiring.
Munga, a humble and devoted born-again Christian, has poured his heart into building a place where young footballers from Homa Bay can finally believe in their future. You can feel his passion the moment you step into the academy. The boys and girls look up to him not just as a director, but as someone who genuinely wants to see them rise.
Beside him is a strong technical team that works with the same fire and belief. Head Coach Jamin Okoth moves across the field like a man on a mission, shaping talent with patience and precision. Assistant Coach Robert Ouko (Nasri)brings a calm presence that balances the team, while Goalkeeper Trainer Byron Odhiambo pushes the young keepers with a quiet intensity that makes you see just how high these kids can climb.
And then something remarkable happened the academy attracted the attention of some of Kenya’s top football minds. This week, Oyaro Sports Academy opened its gates to FKF Technical Director Francis Kimanzi, Harambee Starlets Head Coach Beldine Odemba, Jacky Juma, and Kenyan football legend Musa Otieno, who, in his playing days, captained Harambee Stars and had an iconic career with Santos FC in South Africa. They were also joined by St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale Head Coach Peter Mayoyo, a man well-known for shaping young champions. Seeing these giants of the game walk into the small but determined academy felt like watching a prophecy unfold. They came with wisdom, experience, and a genuine desire to share it with the young stars of Oyaro.
“What we build is not just a player, it’s a person — one who can face setbacks and carry lessons forward.”
Training sessions are running all the way to Saturday the 15th, and they will crown the week with a friendly match at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay a moment that promises to be unforgettable for the boys and the entire community.
And as OSA continues to grow, the doors are open to all senior schools interested in scouting the Grade 9 players ahead of the KSSSA games. The talent is real, the potential is undeniable, and the future looks beautifully bright. What started as a vision is slowly turning into a movement. Oyaro Sports Academy isn’t just training footballers it’s shaping hope, one child at a time.
